Do you know that most pet store pigs have upper respiratory infections? That costs on average of $60 for treatment at the vet clinic if it doesn't die first of pnemonia. Oh, and they are also infested with mites and you need to treat them with ivermectin. That also costs money.

Did I mention that a lot of times the females are pregnant? Because their suppliers believe that they aren't sexually mature until they are 6 months old when truly they are mature at 3 WEEKS! OR, the staff is so incompetent that they mis-sex the pigs and put males and females together so you buy one pig and end up with six.

So go buy your bargain basement pig without doing any research at all into guinea pigs.

If you want a pet that is healthy, you would adopt from a reputable rescue.
