Where should I go to get a guinea pig Are they a good childerns pet2007-11-24 22:19:02

So im 14 and im think about getting a guinea pig. I was wondering if i was making the right decision about a guinea pig. It would be living outside and in a really big cage. I would get 2 so they would have company. I would most likly get a male and femal. I would be able to spen alot of time with them and i would have food ready and water ready at all times. If you could just let me know if im doing the thing that would be great. if you have a oppinion about another animal please aware me of this. Thank You

The best place to get a guinea pig would be from a friend or breeder, but a clean pet store with healthy, friendly looking guinea pigs will do. Guinea pigs bite when they're scared, so be careful when handling them for the first time. I suggest you get two of the same gender unless you want babies, and as cute as babies are, they really are a handful. I know this from personal expierience. It's true: Some guinea pigs do bite. And if your unsure about that whole ordeal, you might want to get a pet that's less likely to bite, like a rat, who are great with children. Anyway, good luck with your guinea pigs!

Yes guinea pigs are very good children's pets, they teach responsibility but don't require a whole lot of care such as a dog would. Almost any pet store sells them. Where do you live they cant live outside in the extreme cold and make sure there is plenty of shade and water in the heat. Unless you want babies you should reconsider getting a male and female. Two females get along good and can keep each other company when you aren't able to. However two males will fight sometimes.

I LOVE GUINEA PIGS! they are my favorite pet. yes, getting 2 would be best, but make sure you get one of them fixed, unless you want baby guinnies!!

Guinea pigs make great childrens pets. However, they are very sensitive to temperature and therefore should not be kept outside. If you do get a male and female, make sure them male is neutered and the female is spayed. Otherwise they will have babies. Guinea pigs often have problems with pregnancies so this is not a good idea. You can find guinea pigs on http://www.petfinder.com. You can search for ones in your area. That way you are giving home to piggie who needs it instead of buying one from a pet store.

guinea pigs can make good pets. you can find them at any pet store, but i would recommend getting two of the same sex, so you get no babies. females usually get along better together, but you should be fine either way.
