one more thing be prepared to get bitten. everyone will tell you they dont bite, but they do. they are tempermental and can bite if they get agitated. i have cared for many small animals and worked in plenty of pet store, they all do.
rats and mice are less likely to bite you than gerbils and hampsters. guinea pigs are somewhere in the middle.
At the closest pet store that you can find.Buy the guinea pig of how pretty and how good it's personality is.You don't want one that bites.
first of all i hope your mom or dad is coming along to get them because u have to be 18. Don't get 2 in the same cage unless your planning on breeding them. i would recomend getting 1 though and not outside keep it in a sturdy structure indoors. Vist a guinea pig website for more info good luck hope i helped
Guinea pigs are great pets. I sugest you adopt one because if you buy one your only helping out the company who breeds them. I think you should adopt because one it will be helping the shelter and the guinea pig too. It could be pretty hard to find one for adoption. What i think you should do is seach the web for on near your first so you don't waste your time driving around looking for one. As far a company goes i suggest two females because the do not fight as of two males would. Guinea pigs should be kep in a cage indoors with water, food, and some toys. You should let it our every few days so it can get som exercise. i think you should get one of those large hamster balls so it is free to roam around the house without getting lost or hurt.never leave it unutended thouse espesially if you have other pets like dogs or cats. and never let it free roam on the secon floor in it's hamster ball because it might roll down the stairs. If you have any more questions ask the people at the shelters or petco. Or search it on the internet.
Guinea pigs are very good pets. I wouldn't get a male and a female in case they were to mate and then you would have a lot of guinea pigs to look after. Check your local humane shelter because a lot of them have guinea pigs up for adoption. One things that I would reccomend before getting a guinea pig is to become a foster parent to one because then you would get an idea of what having one is like. A lot of humane socieites look for foster parents around christmas time because they don't want anyone to adopt a pet on impulse.
Guinea pigs are wonderful! But I think you need to do a LOT of research before getting a pair. (And you definetly need a pair, a same-sex pair because you don't want to deal with babies!). Pregancies can be difficult for a female pig, there is a high mortality rate for both moms and babies. Plus you'd have babies to find new homes for (a lot harder than you think it is).
