Where would be a good place to get a hamster from in Philadelphia.I don't want to get one from petsmart cos I have heard people getting animals from petsmart and the animals are sick.I also heard they don't take care of their animals..so petsmart is out the question..so my question is...Where would be a good place to get a hamster from?

i wwnt to the petland last nite near where i live and the hampsters there were plump and healthy looking so petlands good, and if u have a local 'flower basket' they normaly, have hampsters.

Do you have any local pet shops in your area? You might want to take out your phone book and look under Pets in the business section.

I think it would be great to look in a near by humane society first! If they dont have any nice ones, or any at all, then its ok to by from pet smart. But always look into adopting from a shelter first, its alot cheaper, and you're saving an animal from being put down.

pet supplies plus is very good for taking care of their animals and other local pet stores are fine too local animal shelters sell unwanted hamsters that owners have recently dropped off and at least that saves one from being put down

I am getting my new hamster this thursday from Petco I think, try going there, i asked if Petco was safe and the majority said that their hamsters were healthy and it was a good place to get them. I am soo excited, so go to Petco and look at the hamsters, and make sure you check that their not sick. Check for clear eyes [ with no crust], no wet-tail [ wet-tail is a diease that hamsters can get and it makes them very sick] etc. Glad I helped! :-)

petco would be a great place i mean really all my pets are from petco and all happy and healthy.if you dont want to buy any there(sad) then addopt one from a local shelter. like spca i dont know if their is one in philadelphia but their sure is a houston spca so try adopting one if you can

I have 3 syrian hamsters I got from petsmart and all are happy and healthy. Rumours are started by disgruntled ex employees. I live in Va and people say the same thing, but i have no problem with anything i buy there, give them a shot.
