is aspen better or carefresh? aspen looks a lot better but which is safer??

i have a dwarf hamster, Lucy, that i love... but anyway, carefresh would be a lot better, i mean aspen is also a good one but they recently posted that you should keep your hamster away from its house for 30 min after you put in the Aspen bedding, this gives it time to ventilate properly. Dont breathe this in while opening since it is stored in air tight packaging the fumes are harmful to you and your hamster.

I have always just used pine shavings for mine. I've never had a problem either.

Carefresh for looks and smells. Aspen is NASTY smelling and looking when urine hits it. Both are pretty safe, altho aspen could trigger skin allergies.

i don't know which is better, but i use pine shavings. they tear it up and love it. its also alot cheaper

ANYTHING except cedar or pine... they can cause your hamster to have a nasty respiratory reaction!

I would say Carefresh and aspen litter are equally as safe... For comfort though, I would probably go with the Carefresh... it looks more "poofier" and comfy for the little guy.

If price were a concern, I would say get whatever's cheapest. and the aspen litter is usually a lot cheaper than the Carefresh.

Carefresh, it may not look like it's good, but it prevents stink, and surprisingly, makes better bedding for the hamster. Aspen can create a serious skin problem with the hamster. Trust me on this one.=]

Mostly for dwarf hamsters they are most likely to like every type of beddings but i think they're more comfortable with the sheet kind of beddings and i think they like soft fresh beddings.
