Which do you think make better pets: mice, or rats
I've been considering both, but I want to know what people with actual experience think..?
Answers:I have to say rats...
Rats have made some of the best pets I have ever kept...
Mice can make a good pet...but they are timid and take a lot of work to tame...
They can get out of a lot more cages than rats, they are harder to hold than rats...
They are harder to train...
( They also smell 100 times more than most small animals... )
Rats are very easy to tame, most can be tamed within a few days...
They can be trained to do numerous tricks, as well as potty trained to go in a litter box, keeping cages cleaner...
They smell the least of all small pets...
I have kept rats for more than 13 years...and have been bitten a total of 3 times...
One bit was to tell me she was sick...
The other two have come from an abused rat that I am currently trying to tame...
I have been bitten by about 20 mice...Almost all uncalled for...
Most happend because I was changing the water or food bowls and they didn't want me to...
Rats are definantly the better pet of the two...

Personally I prefer rats, they seem to be more intelligent and affectionate on average than mice.
well none but ,mice,they are smaller and smell less
rats are smarter
I have had both and Rats are better by far. They are more intelligent and don't smell as much. I have trained all my rats to follow me around the house. They are a lot friendlier.
Are you considering giving them to a pet snake? It's Not safe to have mice and rats as pets..They can cause some pretty serious illness's. Do you recall the bubonic plague a disease that killed millions due to mice? Not a good choice of pet in my opinion.
