Which feeding schedule is best for a GP2007-11-24 22:19:37

for two guinea pigs

#1: in the morning:

4-6 leaves of lettuce

a handful of parsley or cilantro

2 slices bell pepper

1/2 baby carrot each

bed time

4-6 leaves of lettuce

cilantro or parsley

other half of baby carrot

maybe washed grass

#2: morning:

1 finely chopped celery stick

1/2 baby carrot each

about 4 or 5 leaves of lettuce

maybe a fruit treat

bed time

chopped celery

1/2 baby carrot

maybe washed grass

parsley

lettuce

wich scheduel is better?

any other suggestions?

Answers:

you should probably go with #2 and also get some regular guinea pig food because guinea pig foor has alot of the vitamins and stuff you may not be feeding them, but as far as i can tell you are doing great :)

I like #2, but I have to say, usually, I give my babies some food whenever they start wheeking, or when I feel like it is time. You don't have to stick to a strict schedule, but if that is what is easier for you, go for it. I like your choice of foods, but remember, only romaine/loose/leaf lettuce, and NO ICEBURG LETTUCE. Parsley too often may cause gas, and for fruits I would recommend apples, but not to often, as they can cause mouth sores. Oranges or other citrus fruits might be too tangy, so be careful. #1 guinea pigs cant have celery sticks it can make them very ill very close to dying

Guinea pigs dont care as long as they get food...make sure to give them lots of pellets as too much greens can give them tummy trouble.
