Which is better Hamsters, gerbils, or chinchillas2007-11-24 22:19:40

I think u should get a gerbil.Since you already had a hamster.Gerbils are bigger than hamsters and so if you still have a hamster cage that wont work.They are very cute and fuzzy and you'll like them.

chinchillas are alittle more expensive and need more room than the others, but they are more intellegent. they learn to love you and like to cuddle. you can teach them tricks, and they come when their name is called. but they need more attention.

hamsters and gerbils need less room, but you cant do much with them.

With over 10 years of keeping rodents I can tell witch is best.If you want something nocturnal(active at night)get a hamster or a chinchilla.if you want something active during the day get a gerbil or a guinea pig.Beware chinchillas and guinea pigs can live well over 10 years.

None compare to having a rat. They are playful and affectionate, and can be trained to a degree. Hamsters and gerbils aren't very interactive with humans.but I have heard chinchillas are fun.

But I still recommend the rat. They are a lot of fun.

I think hamsters or a gerbil...chinchilla need a bigger cage. Hamsters are easier to handle then gerbils. and are more friendly. Also if you happen to go on vacation or if you want to goto a party or somthin you dont really have to worry so much about the hamster. And if you do have kids oneday a hamster is still a good pet with little kids!

Chinchillas are far to expensive for a... thing that lays around all day, and doesn't do anything. I mean, who wants to spend $130 on something that doesn't even move!?!
