Which is better a dwarf hamster a teddy bear hamster or a rat and why

All in all, rats are wonderful pets to have and I strongly recommend getting some! Also, if you do plan on getting ratties, please get at least a pair at a time as rats are very sociable and get very lonely if they are by themselves, especially if they are young.

I've had hamsters, gerbils, mice,a Guinea pig. Also a house rabbit and 2 hutch rabbits long ago. Plus 3 ferrets.

I have always wanted a rat. Several years ago I bought 2, they do best with a friend or more. as mentioned above, they are clean, friendly, love their human, and have great personalities.

You will find they are fascinating to watch and play with.

Rats can and do play with toys. Sometimes the toys are in other departments. In the ferret section and bird and cat and even dog in the dog section. You can adapt and improvise toys. They love to sleep in hammocks. These can be easily made out of such things as scrap cloth or pieces of flannel, or fleece that can be pinned to the cage. A safety pin connected to fish um, not sure what they are called, but they swivel which makes changing their hammocks easier.

I hope you decide on a pair of rats and then join some pet rat groups on Yahoo. to name a few, there are; holistarats, ratlist, lovingrats, rattransport, theillustratedrat. These are forums at Yahoo groups.
