Which is better a hamster or a guinea pig2007-11-24 22:19:38

I've had both a hamster and guinea pigs, and I prefer the guinea pigs, aka cavies. They are much more social than hamsters are, and really feel like part of the family. Good luck with your new pet!

I really reccomand a hamster because they are quite and fun to play with and are small so you dont have to worry about it growing to humungis size. I'd like to differ on the logi that a GP is for kids actually hamsters are more of a kid type pet. I have had almost 4 hamsters and never had a problem with them exceptthe fact that they are nocturrnal. but go with what you like hamster have millions of colors and varitys and are very playfull. Thier food is also cheaper than GP's food.

Neither guinea pigs or hamsters need vaccinations - rabbits do though.

Guinea pig keepers often worm their guinea pigs with Ivomec but I know some people who have never had problems with mites or worms and never use Ivomec. (since you have cows I suppose you might be familiar with Ivomec - because it is used to worm cows!?)

Guinea pigs are better because they rarely bite, aren't nocturnal and are much more affectionate.

HAMSTER , you would love them right away, guinea pigs are fat and if they fall off a table they will probably not survive that fall.
