Second off--If you decide on getting a rabbit, get a male, or get a female and spay her. Otherwise, she's liable to grow territorial and attack you. Trust me on this. Beware of the teenage bunny.
As for the actual pets--guinea pigs are usually better about being held and pet, while some rabbits outright refuse to be held, and take a while to trust you enough to let you sroke them. Rabbits can be more entertaining, though, especially when they 'binky' (jump around and shake their heads--they do this when they're happy).
Both pets are great, so I recommend reading up on them both--after going through different websites about the two animals, make your decision.
Rabbits are faster, in the longer distances, but guinea pigs have much more tender meat.
Rabbits are friendly and way more active, my rabbit has never bitten/nipped anyone. he is so friendly toward anyone who enters our room. of course, i doubt every rabbit doesnt bite, i prefer rabbits, but it depends on your lifestyle and preference. DO NOT buy either from pet stores.. buy from breeders because they are easier to tame.(more friendly if handled from day 1) either way, have fun with your new pet!! :) hope this helps

I've had lots of rabbits and one guinea pig and i thought the guinea pig had a LOT more personality than my rabbits. The rabbits were pretty boring (except the babies learning how to run!). The guinea pig was always entertaining (for a small animal) and i liked her a lot better.
well if your a begginner its best to get a guinea pig cuz there eaisier to take care of :)
what petstore are you going to? if you're going to Petco. DO NOT get a guinea pig there. my sister got one there, and the next day we brought it home it had babies. the Petco employees didnt even tell us that she was pregnant. she had her babies then she died :( so go to petfinder.com or adopt from a shelter or something! PETCO SUCKS!
I recommend you get a guinea pig. They can be very sweet.
