Definitely go for a wire cage. Hamsters feel mores secure when they can see what's going on in the room around them. Being unable to do so would make the animal fearful and difficult to handle in the long run.

no I would say crittertrail cages are the best. they have ventilation and space. and you can see them.

i think maybe, if you want the best for your hamster, you should get an adaptable cage with tubes that go around your room. this will allow your hamster to roam around without getting out or lost. this will also help venilation. it will also prevent boredom and excessive knawing. mine did that until he got out completey. we never saw him again. best wishes princess.

No this is not better, I actually think its cruel to house hamsters in tubs or aquariums. They are busy, inquizitive animals that love to explore and climb. Tubs and aquariums really restrict this. Get a large wire hamster cage with a plastic bottom, and perhaps several levels for your hamster to explore in. There is a flow of fresh air around the whole cage, it wont over heat in the summer and your hamster can climb on the bars.
