Which is the better pet- A rat or a sugar glider2007-11-24 22:19:42

Give me your answer and a reason why.I cant decide on which to go for,what are the good and bad qualities of each pet?

Answers:

I love both my glider and my rat very much but I have to say between the two I would go with the rat.

Gliders live longer *13yrs* but they have sharp claws that feel like little needles and they bite. Also they only come out at night and when you do get them up they turn into a little ball of lightning.

Rats on the other hand are smarter and more social. They sleep when you are away not during they day when you want to play. Also they smell a hundred times better than a glider.

My rat has never bit me.

If you do go with the glider then bye a wheel, they love them.

If you bye a rat, keep lots of carrots around, they love carrots.

Rat is better. They have more personality and can interact with you. They are also ALOT cheaper to get, keep and feed. I had 2 sugar gliders for a very long time and I also used to raise rats. I love my gliders, but they are fragile little things and you have to be so careful with them. Rats are intelligent and can be trained. I would get a female rat if I could. :)

sugar gliders are cute but expensive and nocternal. The have a tendency to get pretty crabby when they dont want to play and they want to sleep. Rats are smart, they dont have a strong odor and the are not nocturnal. I dont think they get crabby when you wake them either. I would say go with a rat.
