If you get them when they are small, handle them softly and often so they get to know who you are.

Don't get Dwarf Hamsters, they bite often and for whatever reason.

Also, ask the pet place you are getting the hamster from.

They should have hamster care sheets for you to take for free.

A Syrian hamster. They're also known as Golden hamsters, but they're the same species. They're also the largest, so better for cuddling. I've had 2, and was never bitten by either. :) They're quite slow and don't jump which also is good as they're easier to handle. Because of their size you don't need a cage with tiny bar spacing either, which gives you more options when buying the cage. Remember though, they need big cages as they need space to move around easily so they don't get fat and depressed.

in my opinion the dwarf hamsters dont hurt as much when they bite but mine would bite A LOT! the regular sized ham hams i had didnt bite as much and were a lot easier to handle because they werent so tiny. as long as u dont hurt or bother it it shouldnt bite you.

Get yourself a Male syrian (teddy bear) Hamster. They are laid back, dosile, good natured and love human contact.
