Chinchillas are good pets, but they need a lot of space to run and jump and are higher maintence and not very hardy.

Guinie pigs and rats would be my recommendation. Mice are much too skidish to be hands-on pets.

Guinie pigs are sweet critters and I think I've ever heard of only one person being bit.

I've encountered countless pet rats in my life - kept about 10 myself - and have only been bitten by one.

If you're choosing between the two, it depends on what you want from your pet. Rats are more engergetic and affectionate, but need more social interaction than a pig. Personally, I'm more biased towards rats, myself. ;o)

i used to have ginea pigs and they never bit me. white syberian dwarfs r also nice and cute.. some of them may bite but some of them r really nice. i used to have a chubby dwarf and it even let my 2-year-old cousin pick it up buy holding its leg. that must have hurt lol but it never bit.

What do you mean, tight area?!? Are you trying to do something horrbile to a poor rodent?!?!?!? I would answer, but you know what, all animals have the rights to defend themselves, so dont come crying when your little plot goes horribly wrong. All rodents either bite or scratch.

guinea pigs are the most gentle. of all the rodents i have had, the guinea pig never bit me or showed agression towqards me.dont pick a hamster. they may look cute and cuddly, but they escape and bite and attack a lot. HAMSTERS ARE VICIOUS!!!!!!!!!...
