Which makes a better pet: Hamsters or Gerbils & why2007-11-24 22:19:43

I like Hamsters better. They're cuter.

I just don't like that Gerbil tail, that's all.

Hamsters do the vertical climb up a plastic tube better than a Gerbil does. I've also found that they've been easier for me to pick up and handle.

I have had gerbils since I was little. They are friendly, cute and easy to care for. They don't bite as hard or as often, they have fragile tails though so be careful, they don't smell as bad, are more active and are super friendly. Hamsters tend to laze around all day but gerbils are up and ready to play anytime.

hamsters are better. they dont chew everything. and dont smell as bad if you use the right litter. they are probal the same amount of money. the hamsters are easier to hold and are cute cause they dont have that tail.they are active at night so they can be really funny or if someones there they will act funny.

Gerbils. They're much more social than hamsters, so form stronger bonds with people, and are less likely to bite. They're very fun to watch, too--they climb on things, take sand baths, and make burrows if you give them enough bedding.

if you are a calm person like me i think you should get a hamster. they are nice, calm and fun. the bad things about a hamster are that they are kind of high matinence, and they sleep ALOT. (sorry for the spelling problems im only 11)
