Which makes a better pet
Guinea Pigs
or
Rats
I know that guinea pigs are really cuttly and sweet
But rats are very intelligent and playful
Im not sure which i would enjoy more. Anyone who owns guinea pigs, or rats, why did you choose them, are they good pets, and about how much do they cost (pet, cage, toys, ect)

My personal experience with each:
I had a friend who had guinea pigs. Their squealing annoyed me and they really didn't like to be held. This may be a training issue with humans not spending enough time with the animals.
I currently have 3 rats. They do squeak from time to time - usually when one grooms the other just a tad too hard or when they occasionally spat in the cage to see who's still the Alpha. They really interact with you and when we go into the room they are all focusing their attention on us , practically reaching through the bars for us to take them out to play and give them treats. They have loads of cuteness factor! They grind their teeth when they are really happy (or really distressed) and their eyes even boggle!
Most people have a problem with their "naked" tails but you really don't notice it much when you spend some time with them. It's pretty neat to watch them use that tail for balance.
