Absolutely no doubt about it rats! They love playing with you mine have NEVER bitten me even when they are scared, they are extremely intelligent and wait for me to come home and are usually by the cage door at 4 even if I'm there already.I get kisses everyday from them because their tongue is SO cute, People don't like the tail but really you don't notice it you can take them everywhere and they love just sitting on your shoulder, best place to get them is from a breeder so they will be tame when you get them.

A proper kept rat doesn't smell!! I thing rats are soooo much better as a pet! I have had both! Guinea pigs don't like to be held that much. As my rats would come out to me & want to be held!! You can teach them to come to your kissing noise, I had one that would play tag with your hand like if you were chasing her then she would turn around & chase your hand!! Their fur is not ruff! They truly are sweet! They are pretty cheap to keep! read the one from the rat lady, if she answerd, she is great about the rat stuff!!

Guinea pigs are so cute and cuttly and rats are ugly and they have an ugly tail that feels sp weird when you touch them. Please pick guinea pigs!!!!!

I'd go with the rats. I have both and my rats seem to be more of an interactive pet than the guinea pig (all he does is nibble on my arm when he's in my lap).
