Hamsters are the most low-matenince, BUT they still need time out of the cage to be handled and with you. Roborvski hamsters are the smallest hamsters, and are more of pet you just look at and observe. But you must still handle them, and be prepard to be bitten, as hamsters can be a bit aggressive sometimes. With constant and often handling, hamsters can be sweet animals. If you're afraid of being bitten, you can wear a pair of thick gloves the first few times, though keep in mind the gloves may scare you hamster.

With any animal comes the requirement that you give it a clean cage, fresh food and water daily, and daily interaction with you. The cage should be cleaned at least weekly. Guinea pigs and Rabbits required more care, but just because a hamster is only required so much, doesn't mean you can't do more for it. :)

If this sounds like too much work, maybe a pet isn't a good idea at the moment.

I hope you make the right choice. :)

Definately not a rabbit, I have one and all he does is eat, and poop ALOT! And if you only have a small cage it wouldn't be a good idea. Rabbits can get pretty big. A hamster would be the easiest to care for. Smaller= less food, less poop, and less matinence. lol. But guinea pigs are nice. Not as difficult as rabbits, I don't think. I think a guinea pig would be the best choice for you because it will bond with you better than a hamster, and will be smaller and easier to care for than a rabbit. Just give him/her lots of LOVE and make sure they have food/water, lol. And handle them often (atleast once a day for 1/2-1 hour at a time) that way it won't get aggresive. Keep it's cage clean and healthy ( for you and your pet) And you should do fine. Good luck =)
A hamster. But even if you dont have alot of time, you still need to make a point to socialize with it for a little while every day.
All three have their own amusing behaviorist characteristics. And obviously a hamster would be less work. It's the same steps on a smaller scale. If it is a child a "TeddyBear"Hamster or even a rat could be nice companion w/o the worry of potentially skin breaking bites that the others might do. Not that most rabbits and Guinea pigs are vicious. However some rabbits have been known to go straight for the juggler vein.Just don't say you weren't warned if it happens.I'm just say'in okay.
If your cage is small, DO NOT get a rabbit. They need lots of room to turn around and stand up..really, they are so big, they shouldn't be caged at all. I have a rabbit, and they are HIGH maintenance. Generally, the smaller the animal, the easier they are to take care of . A hamster would be the best. Make sure your cage has open sides. An aquarium is not suitable for any caged pet. Lots of toys and attention help your furry friend from getting bored and losing their spunk.
A guinea pig or a hamster would be best i think. They are small, cute and dont require a lot of work.
