Get a cage that has legs on it and wheels so you can move it around. Make sure there is lots of hay, and a box / plastic dome that they can hide under. They need water bottles. They eat like crazy, and you could probably get veggy scraps from your school cafeteria.
Good luck!
Email me if u have any more questions.
hamster.. dont know how to handle them. But guinea pigs (having 5 myself) like alot of attention. an little cages are bad for rabbits
Well, I've had guineas and bunnies, but they are anyting but low maintainance. Hamsters bite, and they are one of the least intelligent rodents, they'll walk right off a countertop and kill themselves. I dearly admire rats and mice, very intelligent, low maintaince, and wow.. they really develop a bond with their owner, they make you feel like you have a real friend. My rats remind me of little dogs/3 year olds. They love cake and candy bars. Very sweet and loving animals. Mice are not at the same level as rats, they are not nearly as intelligent, but they are very similar to rats. Oh yeah, they are nocturnal and they don't need loads of attention. I have 3 rats and 2 mice. I love them all dearly. Infact, (I'm a huge pink floyd fan) Julia dream and cymbaline are eating on a piece of shrimp I gave them earlier. Best of luck to you.
You want low maintenance? Get a fish
I think a hamster would be best because it requires less room and can entertain itself while your at school. To pick them up you would put one hand under its bottom and another hand holding its back but don't squeeze it. Good Luck with ur new hamster
A hamster is easy but all three are relatively easy to care for, All require love
Get dwarf hamsters, They're cute, social, and very low maitnence. (Get two, otherwise they might get lonely, and make sure they're the same sex, otherwise they might have babies) As on handling them, play with them every day so they get used to you. Also, make sure to hold them above a bed or something soft so if you drop them (they are very squirmy at first) they won't hurt themselves if they fall
If all you care about is company and putting the least amout of care and effort into caring for a living creature then you should not have a pet. Taking responsibility for an animal is not just something you do willy nilly. No caged animal is low maintenance because you have to clean the cage once a week and it involves creating a living space out of scratch. rodents/small animals aren't very good for companionship. They just dont care to interact with people usually. You'd be better off making some people friends that will be responsible for themselves and still keep you company.
