Also, a fish is NOt low maintenance. Fish require you to have water at just the right temperature, keep it clean, chnage it regularly , keep the ph balanced, you have to make sure they dont get diseases and it is an immense hasssle and aquariums and aquarium equipment is very very expensive.

Actually, they all three take very much care. Rats, though they get big, about 6 inches, don't need that much room, they are very affordable, they can be fed table scraps, or you can buy food for them, they live long lives and love people. They don't need that much attention, though they are excellent pets.

You need at least a 9inch by 10inch cage, though they can deal with smaller, they enjoy having a small en-closer, such as a small wooden house. They do not enjoy hamster balls or wheels, they freak them out and they will out grow them. They can live long healthy lives eating only table scraps, though you can buy specialized food, or just treats for when you don't have time to eat or give them anything. They can get kind of fat but they are still adorable. They soak up attention, and love it, though they don't need it all the time. The most difficult thing about rats is that they do need to be bathed, but working out a schedule is hard. If they are bathed to often there skin will dry and they will get a brown dandruff like flake. If they are bathed not enough, they will get the same thing. My advice would be every time other time you clean out there cage to give them a bath. Or, just watch the skin habits of them.
