Which one? A full grown hamster or a Dwarf hamster? Look at quality, price, and health.

Answers:

depends...mostly on your age, your level of experience with hamsters, and your desires in a hamster...

dwarf hamsters are the smallest hamster breed even when full grown(about 3-4 inches full grown)...they are not recommended for children nor for the first time hamster owner as they are easily startled and may bite when scared, as well as they do not have a good temparment and require more time, knowledge, and handling in order to insure that they are comfortable with people...dwarfs are happy with basically any toys especially smaller toys like tubes and they require more exercise than other breeds so extra time in their roll-a-bout house ball is good and the proper sized ball and wheel is a must!

teddybear hamsters, fancy hamsters, or black bear hamsters are all considered the most common hamster pet as they usually are the cheapest to buy; they are slightly larger than the dwarf hamster and bite less than a dwarf however are usually not the best choice of hamster breed when buying for a child

European hamsters are the largest hamster breed averaging to about the size of a small rat when full grown; European hamsters rarely ever bite when they are properly cared for as they are not easily startled and have an excellent temparment ...European have a hard time fitting in some hamster toys and some even get so large that rat toys are required instead of hamster toys, usually tubes become hard to wiggle through and there can become a possibility of getting stuck
