(I don't have a link for Europeans however you should really do the research as they are perfect for beginners and fit most people's lifestyles)

as far as price goes...it depends on the store you go to:

if you were to go to a place like petland then a teddybear hamster may only be $5-$7 however their hamsters are not properly cared for and are usually very low in health quality...hamsters from petland do not live long and are sickly

if you go to petco or petsmart (most preferably petsmart but either works) the price is alittle more...for a teddybear about $10 to $15; for a dwarf $15 to $20 and for a European $20 to $25...if you're a begginer then go for the European and always buy from reputable stores...petsmart is best, petco is good too, petland is a no-no (don't ever buy a pet from anywhere unless you go in and see the set-up...the hamsters need the proper size cage...when they are young they can be kept together but not when they are older so only buy one per cage and don't buy from places that encourage you to buy more than that...the hamsters should have sufficient food and water, clean cage, and sufficient exercise toys in the cage when you buy them at the store.talk to the workers to make sure they know what they are doing and are knowledgeable on hamsters and hamster care, a good pet store will educate their workers before putting them out on the floor with the customers...a good pet store=a good hamster)

all hamsters require alot of exercise and proper nutrition no matter what the breed...as long as you educate yourself before hand on basic hamster care AND as long as you hand feed and handle the hamster daily then the hamster won't bite and will live a long and healthy life
