Which pet should I get Rat,guinea pig,rabbit,or,hamster
If you make your decision, please consider adopting one of the many homeless rats, guinea pigs, rabbits and hamsters from a local shelter or rescue. A responsible rescue will have already quarantined the animal to ensure that it is free of illness or parasites. You can find a shelter or rescue near you by visiting http://www.petfinder.com/ .
Good luck!
Everyone has a preference when it comes to pets. My personal preference of the pets you listed is Rats.
They are fairly low maintenance pets however they do need to be fed daily and provided with a large enough cage to run around in. Also they need to be kept in pairs. Either two males two females or one neutered male with a spayed female. You can keep more than just two rats together at a time, the more company the better. They're social creatures just like humans.
Also no matter how many rats you have you should always take an hour or more out of your day to play with them.
They really are great pets, they love to be around their owner.
If you like dogs minus the maintenance then rats are the perfect pet for you. But please do yourself a favor and research them really well before you get them.
Which pet can you accommodate? Rabbits (especially) and Guinea pigs need room to run around the house, so if you aren't prepared to pet-proof your house, you shouldn't get either of these. Rats cages should be large if you're housing them properly. Both Rats and Hamsters also need some exercise outside of the cage and you can either supervise them in your room with the door closed, or let them run around in those balls designed for either rat or hamster.
