I have had all of the above animals mentioned as pets. Rats are docile and very trainable. I had a blue fancy rat for two and a half years and he never bit me. Hamsters are cute, but will bite. The best relationship I have had with any of my rodents has been with my guinea pig. Guinea pigs are so much fun. My guinea pig lived three years, but he was happy. He lived inside a large rodent apartment with no roof, so I could get to him easily. We used to put his apt. on the floor and open his door, so he could go in and out as he pleased. He would run around the living room and hop up like popcorn. They are so much fun to watch. And they also love to cuddle up. Just don't expect them to come to you on command, most rodents do as they please. Read all the books and websites for more information. Rabbits are great too. Get on craigslist.org to see if anyone is giving any pets away.

rats are smart and can be fun and i heard they hardly bite, Guinea pigs are cute fun and cuddly, rabbits well i don't know but i do know hamsters can be fun and they are soooooooo cute but they do bite not that hard though they are a lot of fun once they get used to you!!!! So everything you want would be a good pet. What you should do is go to the petstore and hold a rat a guinea pig, a rabbit, and a hamster and see which one is more calm and which one you like best. Remember the hamster will be tired and scared so he or she probably will bite you mine did at the petstore but i still got him!!
