They know their names, and if I say another rats name, the others will often look at the one whose name I said.

They are not dirty, they clean themselves after eating, before sleeping, when they wake up, they clean each other.

Some people can't seem to be OK with their tails, but it's their air-conditioning system and they use it for balance. If rats had furry tails everyone would love them.

Sometimes people ask me if they will bite. I laugh, they have never bit me even when being bathed. I took one to the vet and he did a small but painful thing. When he relaxed his grip, my baby leaped to the safety of my shoulder. He was scared.

They are the best little critters I've ever had, and I've had some great cats and wonderful dogs. Even some amazingly adorable ferrets.

My rats are my short furry kids that can't talk in humanish. I so hope that more people will see past the myths behind the "filthy" rat, and see them as the pleasant and enjoyable little guys they are.
