okay im joking but serously, rats arent all bad.

well first, only wild rats carry and spread disease. And rats do not "attack" people.. the disease is typically carried thru fleas, not from the rats directly.

Rats are actually clean animals.. in their own ways. Yes, they are attracted to garbage, but what else are they going to eat? Besides, its part of mother nature's clean up crew. If rats and other vermin didnt eat garbage.. it would sit there are rot and stink. Rats will eat their dead.. sounds gross, but, they eat the dead before it attracts harmful bacteria.. its their way of disease prevention.

Pet rats that are bred in capitvity are clean animals. They often groom themselves and are happy if their cage is kept clean. I have owned several of them. They can be very affectionate, and are intelligent animals.

Actually, I've been bitten by pet hamsters far more often than I've been bitten by pet rats. And I've worked with both rats and hamsters (I used to work in a pet store).

the only rats that spread diseases are sewer rats. rats only bite if YOU stick your smelly fingers that smell like cheese in there cage what other options do they have: to let you poke and squeeze them and then they have to clean them selves all over again and have permanent cheese stains or to defend themselves. first you have to spend a lot of time playing and petting them to gain there trust and then they won't bite. rats are actually very clean and intelligent. i have heard that rats have even saved the lives of humans!!

A domesticated rat kept in a clean cage can be a fun pet for a kid if that's what the child likes. Domesticated rats only carry diseases if they are exposed to diseases and the pet food store doesn't carry diseased food for rodents.
