Why Does My Gerbil Stamp Its Feet2007-11-24 22:19:52

I Have Two Gerbils' (Both Male..) And Every Now And Again It'll Start Stamping It's Back Feet Quite Loudly.

I Just Wanted To Know Whyy?

Answers:

In the wild, gerbils are prey animals and one way they communicate any danger is to drum a warning with their hind feet.

You pets will sometimes warn of any 'would be' dangers near their cage (even the slightest movement near them could resemble a potential predator to them), this will either result in other cagemates joining in with the drumming or all of them running for cover!

God I had the same promalm it drove me insane, that i finally gave them to my cusion. And she siad they were doing that to attract them It odd cuz only male do it God it weird I though my gerbil were gay. Dont wory it normal. Their not gay or anything so dont sweat it so dont worry it is a part of life.

I had gerbils too, and this is thier mating ritural, i should know because i had a girl and a boy and they would do this before getting it on..LO0L

It's looking for a mate. When I was younger I had pet gerbils and the male would do that just before mating.
