Why are gerbils SO aggressive
I have a mating pair of gerbs and an older female who is the mother of the male in the mating pair and the younger female always goes berzerk trying to attack the older one! I always manage to keep them separate but this one time they got together and kicked seven shades out of each other. There was LOADS of blood. It was awful. And it's wierd cos they are sometimes so sweet and cute and neither of the females is bad to me; they hardly ever bite...
Answers:Territorial fighting happens in EVERY animal.
Gerbils are not aggressive, at all; but when they're fighting for territory they definitely do get very violent.
What you should have done if you knew that they were constantly fighting was buy another cage and seperate them. And if you haven't done that already, you should go ahead and do that before you end up with a dead or seriously injured animal.
