Why are my gerbils fighting
i've got two gerbils and they are about nine weeks old (or more) and they are sisters. They keep on fighting (well i've seen then do it twice)
is it just play fighting or real?
Answers:do they stand up on hind legs and bat each other with front legs if so then it is play if they are bitting and tumbling around this is more serious and it could be because they are actually brothers or maybe just agressive sisters, eventhough boys should get on, seperate if it looks dangerous otherwise you will regret it as they get bigger and inflict more damage.
probably dominance issues since they are so young.
i had the same question when my brother gerbils started fighting, but now it has stopped and they have the "alpha gerbil" figured out now.
plus girl gerbils tend to fight more than boy gerbils, so unless there is any blood then they are fine.
Don't know if the fighting is real or play, but you could PACK their cage with things to play with and chew on so they have more to do than pick on each other.
