Why are my hamsters ball so huge
I keep rats myself. I haven't had a boy rat for ages but the last boy I had, his balls were bigger than his head. I called them his torpedoes. It's SO funny.
Don't worry - he will grow into them to an extent.
If you're interested in the REASON for their gigantic balls - rodents are a very promiscuous group of animals - ie they have a LOT of sex, with a lot of different mates. So there is high sperm competition. Bigger balls mean more sperm - and more sperm means a better chance that your sperm will fertilise an egg. It's all part of the big battle to make sure that it's YOUR genes that make it to the next generation.
Rodents are often VERY well endowed. My gerbils have a nice bit of "luggage" under their tails. I've seen Syrian hamsters at the store that have quite large packages. My friend has a dwarf hamster whose gonads are as big as he is! And the little guy will use them as a pillow!
So, the bigger balls a male rodent has, the nicer a pillow he can sleep on ;)
Don't worry about his large testicles... he's probably quite proud of them.
It's completely normal. I believe I read somewhere that hamsters have the largest *balls* in proportion to their body than any other animal.
Actually, it happens in the summer when it gets to be hot out, its normal.
Your hammy just has big balls he won't grow into them eaither but I highly doubt he has "testicular Cancer"
