I'm so sorry to hear about your quinea pig. I had one who died of a heat stroke. The guinea pigs cannot tolerate the heat. I don't know whether your quinea pig was left outside in the heat or not. If so, it may sound like yours also died of a heat stroke. Or due to an allergic reaction of the bedding you used. Take your other one to the vet immediately to ensure he is okay.

Your guinea probably had a cyst under her eye, this is common, although if she was off ehr food there may have been another underlying cause. Possible diet problem?

You probably need to pair up the remaining piggie. Visit a small animal rescue centre and see if you can pair her up with anotehr pig. Piggies love company...

The crusty white stuff and not eating are symptoms of a URI. Guinea pigs don't get cold viruses. They get bacterial infections that are deasly when not treated. There was probably sneezing and runny nose too that wasn't noticed. URI are highly contagious and you need to take your remaining pig to get checked out at the vet. Pigs go downhill very fast. They are masters at hiding illnesses. By the time we notice, they are very sick.

Don't be too hard on your mom. Usually when a guinea pig stops eating its too late to do anything to save them. This is their natural process of dying. Don't think if only I had. Just think of all the love you received from the little girl. Watch your other piggy for signs of reduced food intake. Good luck
