Why did my hamster get so fat in 2 months
My male hamster started getting fat in June, now it's August and he is huge! I don't think it is his pouches because he is only fat in the hips/rear end. Halfway up he is his normal size. He is old, about 2 1/2 years and has always been really active and normal sized. Now he is fat and lazy but still seems happy. Any suggestions? Thanks
Answers:you know how hamster can stretch their bodies well i would think they need a little extra skin to do that. you should also check his health, first check to see if his fur is smoothe and shiny, second make sure he doesn't have any bugs, third make sure their are no bald spots ANYWHERE exept his stomach, fourth make sure his ears aren't at an angle to his head, fifth make sure a doesn't have any cuts, sixth make sure he ISN'Tsquinting. MAKE SURE THERE IS A WHEEL IN HIS CAGE. if anything looks wrong get the vet, i have two hamsters that look like what your explaining.
Maybe call a vet and see what he says. The past few months, the earth axis has been rotating a little faster than it normally does, and it could have knocked his equilibrium off balance, poor thing.
he's old now and is slowing down, not burning too many calories, cut down on the sunflower seeds.
