Why did my hamster suddenly die2007-11-24 22:19:16

i know for a fact it wasnt wet tail and she seemed to be perfectly healthy. she was your average chubby little teddy bear hamster and i had her for 2 yrs.

its kind of hot in nyc now, could she have died from heat exhaustion?

and we kinda found her laying on her food, could she have choked?

your hamster might have just died from old age! She lived for a long time so you probably took very good care of her! She lived a long happy life! Sorry about your loss

well in about a year i went through 11 hampsters. I had the exact same problems (it wasn't my fault they all died). I had a cat and I think some of them died from the shock from him. Some also got lost and 5 died (my fault) because they were new Born's (my hamster came pregnant wen i bought her) and i accidentally cleaned the bowl they ate out of that had a wood chip in it that the baby hampsters climbed into and the mom lost a sent and ate them all. Yes i said she ate them all. Imagine if our mothers did that.

2 yrs of age is pretty old so it was probably just that. In the industry we refer to it as normal anatomical failure. In other words, the heart stopped, the kidneys failed, etc.
