Why did my hamster suddenly die2007-11-24 22:19:16

Without further information, it is only a guess. You could take it to a vet for a necropsy (autopsy for an animal) if you want definitive answers.

Unfortunately, hampsters don't live much longer than a couple years...it's sad I know cuz we love our babies but another good reason would be the heat if you don't keep air on in your place and it gets really hot...between the fur, the weight (if it's over-weight as most hampsters can get), the heat and the moisture...it can definately be a possibility of to much heat.

Heat is a major to all small rodents and may have died from exhaustion. It's a high priority to keep small animals in the shade and provide lots and lots of water. But make sure it's not icy cold otherwise this will kill your hamster.

Again I'm very sorry about your hamster, it's always a solution to start over with a new soul in the family. Maybe a puppy, kitten or even a baby hamster.

it was probably old age. my hamster is almost 2 and is turning grey and is less active so i will probably lose her soon.you did nothing wrong and the food she was laying on was probably just her stash of food. it was probably time anyway they don't live for long.

sorry about your loss but they live an average 2-3 years and die suddenly, be glad she didn't have wettail.

well there is many possible ways she could have died my old hamster suddenly died as well her name was storm i think she had a heart attack while she got paralyzed.,.. because she was frozen but dead. was your hamster stiff?

probably just from old age, 2 years is old for a hamster
