Why did my mother rat only give birth to one baby
She had 11 babies the time before and this time she only had 1... I don't understand, because she didn't even give birth to any dead babies, I didn't think it was possible for rats to only have one rattling.
Answers:well, it could be her age that is causing her to do this, which does most definitly happen. its a rarer occurance, but it does happen. just keep on checking up on the two and being sure mommy dearest is healthy as well and check for anything unusual (good luck though!)
i remember my 1st litter of 8 babies, and after that, she never had another litter after me trying with her a few times, which never bothered me because her daughter is still a perfect mother to me (not over protective, remains healthy, has great sized babies, litters of average size..)
I dont know. It's common for rats to only have one baby, their first litter, but since shes already had a litter, I'm not quite sure.
Was she hungry?
Did you see her give birth? If you didn't, how can you be sure she didn't give birth to several others but ate them? Gross, but it happens..
She probably is having a small litter now! So don't worry
but if you would like you can call the vet to be sure!
well if it still looks pregnant then you need to take it to the vet but other than that it should be fine
maybe she had more it just maybe she killed them right when they were born and ate them because they were sick and would not survive
