Why did our hamster die

Why did our hamster die2007-11-24 22:19:17

They're are alot of other possibilities. I know that you took good care of him, but was water always available? He could've gotten dehydrated, and hamsters, with their small fragile bodies, can die from that.

A bald spot appeared on one of my hamsters... its a sign that he/she is getting old.

1 and a half years is pretty good for a hamster... some live longer or less. One of my hamsters lived for three years and one for just about a year. I took them both to the vet afterwards and the one that lived longer died from cancer, while the other died because of organ failure. It varies.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hoped this helped.

either a heat attack...or sumthing else...im not sure but im sorry for your loss
it may have just been his time they live 2-3 years, and are prone to tumours and cancers.
All my hamsters have lived for at least 5 years! I've had 8 hamsters and I'm only in 8th grade now. Maybe it was a cage problem, the hamster was choking, heart attack, really bad bug bite, bad fall (two part cage), or even old age if you got it old. Sorry for your lost.
hamsters are what you might call disposible pets they only live 2-3 years and to have one for over a year is good plus you never know how old they are when you buy them
do you have a cat also??
Im sure you did nothing wrong don't worry he probably just died of natural causes coz hamsters are doing pretty well if they live to a year & a half anyway! They rarely live above 2! Well I'm really sorry to hear that he died, I know how it feels x x x x x x <3
