usally the momwill kill a baby if she feels threatend
also she will kill them if they are sick or injured
(trust me i raised bunches of hamster babies)
Don't touch them because if the mother smells the human scent on the babies, she will kill them. Trust me, I had a hamster that had babies and we touched them and it killed them. Don't be scared when they are born cuz they are tiny pink & UGLY!!
If she kills her young there is probably a reason, like they're sick. It depends how young they are, if they are too young you can't separate them or else the babies will die. Just let nature take its coarse. If she does eat them then try again maybe she wont eat them next time. Good luck!
They don't always eat them all. Sometimes there are just problems with the baby so they eat them. I have had the expieience. 2 weren't eaten and they lived. But I am not 100% sure. i would just make sure the babies get fed. If they can eat on their own then the mom has got to go.
