Why do guinea pigs chatter their teeth
Chattering is usually a sign of anger. However, it can also be a sign that the piggie feels very poorly and at his advanced age, this might be the case. He may be so old that he's just too tired to do a bunch of squealing.
You may want to consider taking him into the vet for a check up just to make sure everything is working as it should & he's not in any pain.
Best of luck!
hi i am a mum of 4 piggy myself?
and in my experience mine chatter their teeth when they are *angry (about to fight each other)
*when they want to be left alone.
*they also do it when they are scared
*and i think they do it when their teeth are to long?
what i do is if they are fighting i throw a towel over the pigs to stop them and then i put some food in in different places and move the toys around... i know that may sound a bit silly but it works cause it distracts them from what they where doing.
if they start doing it when i am holding them, i just give them a kiss and put them back in their bed.
i find that my smallest piggy squeak tends to do it when he has fallen out with bubbles my biggest piggy!
so i think he does it cause he is scared, so i just give him some TLC and a extra treat.
the last thing i would advice is making sure your piggy has got loads of different things he/she can bit on, their teeth are growing all the time... so if they are not keeping them short it can cause loads of problems..
