i jus bot my hamster a new house wit a wheel in doesnt get of but y do they like it?

Answers:

Because they are very energetic if raised right, and the wheel is the best place to get rid of the energy. Most hamsters will run more than 5 miles in one night, and will still have plenty of energy in the morning! Plus, its FuN!!

Maybe it has nothing else to do? My hamsters have this pattern it does when it runs on wheel: Run on wheel then look on side of wheel -repeat.

Not a clue, they just do. Some hamsters won't ever use them. Just different ones.

they love the constant movement. mine also sleep in it.

I've never been sure. I think they are either exercising or trying to escape and they feel like they are getting somewhere in the wheel.

it gives them exercize I had a hamster and it rolled and rolled and rolled on that thing make sure tat you can reach the wheel because I had a wheel that I could not reach and I couldn't hold him only when he went to get so food because thats all he would do

They like that wheel so much because it is their only source of excercise unless they have a ball.just make sure that your wheel is a solid surface wheel and has a solid back to it, or else that hamsters feet or something could get caught and lead to injury!!
