did you know that experiments were run in forests and they found that rodents voluntarily spent ages running in wheels instead of choosing the forest floor!

Since hamsters are naturally nocturnal, the best time for them to exercise is dusk to dawn. You can keep the wheel a little quieter by putting Vaseline where the wheel joins the pins. The Vaseline will not hurt the hamster and you will be able to sleep a little better. Maybe you can provide more chew toys like cardboard tubes or add more toys for the hamster to climb around the cage in.

hamsters are usualy nocternal animals coming out at night to feed and forrage so when the are confined in a cage they need to exercise as they can.t do this the way they would if they were free.they sleep or stay hidden most of the day and come out at night.this is natures way for them

hamsters need lots of exercise, they enjoy the wheel because they can get good speed, a hamter runs on average 8 miles in 1 night seems loads but its true.

i think this hamster wanna go out for some parties..he feels lonely ma'am..and maybe this is his mating season.

buy another one..a female one..then you wont hear annoying cage bites sound anymore. there will be uh uh oh oh sounds.

He's trying to escape! No not really they are nocturnal. Like most creatures of the night they are open to prey in the day. Its not a good idea as one person said to set it free, our English rats will kill it, it would not survive! And you can not reason with a hamster, its programed to do what it does. If your grandson is happy that's all that matters, and id suggest you get a booklet on hamsters and there habits, were they are from, to help you understand them more. Happy days,
