Why do people think that people that breed hamsters are in humane2007-11-24 22:19:47

ok earlier i asked a question about how to run a hamster farm and then i got answers that said i could go to jail. why do people think that, all i ment was that i wanted to breed quality hamsters that people in my town could count you know how many stores i have gone to bought a hamster an it died a week later four thats how many.

Answers:

It's not that they think you're "inhumane", it's just not right. I mean your hamsters would have no say in the matter. They would be forced to go through painful labor, over and over again. Why would you breed when there are so many poor and hopeless hamsters in animal shelters? Hamsters are way over bred and over populated.

Probably some sort of freakish animal rights extremist that thinks you're going to turn your hamsters into a "breeding mill."

Make sure you get your pets registered with the state.. You may have to get a license... Take good care of them.

Those are just short-tempered idiot people. Never do anything but ignore anyone that doesn't take the time to explain why they do something (like call you a criminal). See how rediculous that sounds? One person says they want to breed hamsters, another says they'll go to prison if they do. Really, don't pay mind to that. Althought I'm sure if you mentioned you wanted quality and health in the babies, those people would not have said that, but it doen't matter.

Because when it comes to animals you are dealing with a sickness of obsessive fanaticism. It is truly a clinical illness and a religious fervor as well as a cultural condition in the west. You must be prepared for anything. In other parts of the world, dogs and cats are not seen as pets but food or sport stock and money or barter but here they are literally worshiped above children and millions of dollars are spent, more than is spent in some other areas of Human Services to enforce laws to protect them over children and poor. People and organizations vest more energy, time and money than on poor and sick and children. We are a sick and perverse culture. They are only animals. People will accuse you and threaten you and intimidate you just like any religious fanatic does. Just ignore them and go about your business. It's the culture you live in.

so put the anti-diarrhea stuff in its water and vitamins. you may need to put anti-biotics in it just in the beginning w/ you can get cheap at a feed store. tetracyclene for like 5 bucks. to breed "quality" hamsters you would have to control how many times they breed so you dont break the mother down from the babies sucking out all the nutrients and subsidize her diet w/ extra vitamins and fresh fruits and vegetables and protein. (catfood) but the petstores have their suppliers and wont buy them from just an individual- the problem is they are stressed whn you get them , and they cant get too cold or drafts...etc. so who knows how you are keeping them also. why dont you try buying one and giving them the vitamins and other stuff immediately when you get them home. you'll have a healthier pet.

People think that becasue many breeders are inhumane. Look at the four hamsters you got from the petstore that died. They all came from a breeder and were sick.

People in general do not like inexperienced breeding, even experienced breeding, because there is such an overpopulation problem with hamsters and people should just go to their local shelter. It is good to breed if you have done good quality research about how to do it, have no questions, and you are trying to build on the good appearance and personality of both the parents.

Have you research thoroughly all aspects of breeding hamsters. there are many health isssues that can arise from breeding. i mention that for the welfare of the animals that you plan to breed. other than that i belive that responsible breeders are a good thing. to often you run into people who don't want to know all the details and the animals suffer for it.

people are ignorant, go to a petsmart and get your hamsters, I always have good luck with theirs.
