Why do you have to disinfect the hamster cage every week2007-11-24 22:19:50

The reason its so important is because firstly, hamsters wee is very toxic. Secondly, hamsters are very delicate and catch infections, diseases and infections very easily, and die very quickly as a result.

Its common sense that you would disinfect anything that has been wee'd and pooped on surley?

well! its like not cleaning your house or bathroom

if you dont clean it then Bactria is going to set in and the hamster might die oh i meant she is going to die

Don't worry, you are not a neat freak! You think that's bad, I clean my guinea pigs cage every day and sometimes twice! Not that she cares if it's clean. She sits in her pee and eats her poop lol!
i just empty it out and clean with mild soap detergent, and clean and rinse, i thought disinfecting was for after one dies in the cage and you want to reuse it. i only have one per cage, how dirty can it get in one week?
