Sounds like a lack of choice to me.


Firstly you may want to check their sex. If you purchased them from a pet store then it is highly likely that they told you the wrong sex, this can be done by flipping the guinea pig on it's back and gently pushing around the genital areal.

Once you are sure that they are females you can rule out any pregnancy's or mating issues. What you are probably seeing is them working out the hierarchy. Usual things to exhibit when introducing and for the first few days is mounting, growling, but sniffing etc. Once they have worked out the hierarchy they should settle down and the mounting should cease. If they do not settle down you should see a vet as the sows may have hormonal problems. It is true...look at the third link.

The older will tend to do it to the younger one.


it is normel my hamsters hump eachother all the time.my vet said if they are friends or related to the rodent.they will hump.
