Why does my guinea pig eat so quickly
i took Gus outside today to play in the lawn, but he just like to sit and eat it. not run around. but when he eats the grass, or any food for that matter, he chews it so rapidly or takes the food and runs into his igloo with it. why??
Answers:Mine do that too. I take them outside for some fresh air & fresh grass, but all they want to do is eat! If I sit on the grass next to them, they try to hide under my legs AND eat the grass. Its their instinct as prey animals to hide & eat quickly before THEY get eaten.
They eat quickly because they're afraid the food is going to be eaten by another piggie.
During veggie time, all my piggies grab their veggies & RUN into their pigloos to gobble up their food. If there's anything still left, they run back out, grab another bit of food, & run back to the pigloo.
Don't worry, its normal.
Because it doesent know when the next time he eats will be so he enjoys it while he can.
It's his only vice. JK, but don't feel bad, my dog is so into eating that she won't play with toys and she won't fetch.
maybe it dosent like to do much exercise like my mouse..
and did you name it gus like from cinderella?
idk but u should take him to the vet
Because guinea pigs in the wild are prey so when they're eating they're at their most vulnerable so they either eat really quickly or run off to find cover & eat there!
A. he's afraid someone will take it from him
B. he likes it
C. he doesn't like to be out in the open
D. he doesn't like excercise
