Why does my guinea pig run around the cage in circles2007-11-24 22:19:20

she runs around the cage in circles...she looks happy, isnt scared.is she just having fun?

This is affectionately known as doing "zoomies", where they run around the cage at top speed. They are burning off energy & getting exercise.

I love to watch mine when they have a case of the zoomies in the mornings or after I've cleaned the cages. I think its fun!

ya it's just happy. sometimes it will jump around and that's called "popcorning" its soo funny and cute.

This just means she is happy! My guinea pig does that too. It's called popcorning, nothing to be afraid of :-)

Well it can be because of two reasons if he seems fine hes just entertaining himself but if he is doing it out of stress there's a problem that has to be fixed

As long as she can still move straight when she wants to, it's nothing to worry about. However, if she can only go in circles, she might have an inner ear infection! It's probably just the happy dance but just be aware!

my guinea pig sky rockets when i tell him im taking him shopping I guess there's nothing wrong with her very guinea pig has his or her own way of showing that they're happy
