Why does my hamster do this
Why does my hamster do this2007-11-24 22:19:22
whenever i touch it and put it back in the cage it becomes stiff.
Answers:Your hamster is most likely a female who is in heat. When you touch her on her back, she will go stiff because she is "assuming the position". Essentially she is receptive for mating. She will go through this every couple of days.
You may also notice that she will be especially stinky during this time. she's scenting to attract any males that are in the vicinity.
Are you sexually arousing it?
thats its defense mechanism it's their way of protecting themselves but don't worry its normal and i doubt it will bite you just carefully pick it up and you should be fine all my hams do this.
It is probally nervouse. Or having some strange disease. I s it new to the enviorment. try giving it a treat when t becomes stiff. I hope this helps.
My hamster does that when it's scared; when my dog comes and sniffs him, he freezes and will not move for a few minutes. Did you just get your hamster? Maybe it's not used to you yet and needs some time to adjust.
hes just alert just wave ur finger in front of its face to take out of the state
i have two hamsters and both of them do that it is just them bein scared if you hold it alot it wil stop doin that
