Why does my hamster2007-11-24 22:19:25

Sleep so much? I got this house for him, and in his other cage, he wouldnt use it, because he had a little extra plastic part on another level, (it was a superpet cage-the plastic and wire ones) and he had a tunnel he made out of bedding, now i have a glass tank for him and he sleeps all the time in the house, why? Hes a dwarf hamster, and i moved the tunnel he made from bedding in with the tank too, but he doesnt care about it. Why did he all of a sudden change his mind?? Also what are some homemade/home toys he can have in his cage? I saw that toilet paper rolls arent good b.c sumtimes they chew thm and the cant digest them, and b4 i read that i was cleaing off the little toilet paper, and it was all glue on the roll were the toilet paper is attached to the cardboard roll, which im sure isnt good. help me please! THANKS!

He may be tired. Also, hamsters are nocturnal, the more u play with him, the more he`ll stay awake.I have one named Chester and he loves to sleep.He has plenty of toys but he only plays with them occasionally. I hope I helped!

yeah umm hampsters are nocturnal witch means they sleep durring the day and are awake at nigth when the house is dark soem hampsters will change there sleep patterns but not many

My mini hamster does that a lot too. maybie he's just lazy. (like mine.) do u have a wheel in the cage? if not then he prob. just desided he has nothing better to do and goes to sleep.

They Are nocturnal witch means they sleep during the day so they have energy to party at night! lol but they dont mind being woken every now and then just b nice bout it if he flips on his back wen u try to grab him give him a minute to wake up then get him.it seems that u need to do some research on hamsters go to www.hamster-heaven.com
