Why does my hamster like to chew on her cage
Well, there could be two reasons.
1). Your hamster is bored and wants to come out. Hamsters show that they are bored by chewing on the wire cages on their cage. Letting your hamster out every day for about 10 minutes, will reduce this. Letting your hamster out RIGHT when you notice her chewing on the bars, will help. Try to get that time fraise going. So, say it's 3:00 P.M. and your hamster is chewing on the bars, then you should make a note to yourself, saying that you should let your hamster out at that time. That way, your hamster will get used to being let out at what time.
2). There could be one other reason that your hamster is chewing on the cage bars. She is trying to ware down her teeth. I read that you have a chewing thing in the cage now, but, additonal fruits and veggies (hard ones, like: apple slices, carrots (not cooked!), corn, ect.), should help too! Also, try to feed your hamster treats that help ware down teeth. These might be hard to find, but, usually any hard treats, should work. Try avoding Yogies. These are soft and probably won't work.

Hamsters absolutely love to chew! She's just munching her heart away! I'd get her some paper towel tubes to chew on. It keeps her teeth nice and short so they don't over grow. And get some wooden houses from a petstore or something.
hamsters teeth grow like crazy they need something to gnaw on but it could also be bcuz she/he wants to escape all animals do that lol.. have you tried a little ball so it could run around?..
Your hamster might have new growing teeth so you should get it some chewing toys. If not, it just might be bored and has nothing to do.
my guinea pig does this. she is trying to wear her teeth down because rodents teeth grow constantly
they like to chew on things- it's normal. Just make sure that you give the Hamter enough toys and food so that they have other things to chew on besides their cage.

she is bored. you need to get her more to do in her cage. she needs a lot of chew toys and a wheel. hamsters tend to chew on their cages more when they are not happy with their surroundings.
