Why does my hamster pee the bed2007-11-24 22:19:24

I have to clean out my hamster every day as she pee's the bed. is there something wrong with her, please help!!

Jingles isn't able to hold her wee as good as we and other animals can. I would just put down a blanket on the bed that is easy to wash. She just happened to pick that spot in her bed to pee. Buy a new one and leave it out and she will hopefully find a new place. If you try to clean the old one, the smell will still be there.

Most hamsters would not do this. We've had a few, and they all had "pee-ing corners" where they did this, well away from their bed and food. We also had a gerbil, but it just peed everywhere.

The hamsters we had used to do the same, we moved a bit of the wee soaked bedding into another corner of the cage and trained them to go there instead of in the bed.

never had this problem, put a covering over the bed, I assume you are talking about your daughters bed? All hamsters pee in their cages in various spots.
